For this project, I created two styles of icon for the new Opioid Response Project website that UNC School of Government SIPD was developing. These icons are designed to represent the different categories found on the website, such as opioid data resources, access to treatment and recovery support, etc. Check out the new Resource Library!
Designed with: UNC School of Government SIPD Internship, 2020
Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Figma
I started each design thinking about the category and how I wanted to express it. My goal was to keep the designs universal and abstract, so that they could be easily recognizable and understood.
After thinking of how I wanted to conceptually represent each of the categories, I sketched several possibilities in my notebook before I began designing in Adobe Illustrator.
After I had my design concepts and sketches finalized, I began designing my icons in Illustrator. I used various shapes to ensure consistency across all my icons and confirmed that they were all the same size.
After feedback from the client, I edited or removed several of the icons in order to optimize the list of categories.
I applied two style treatments to the icon set for the client to choose from and presented them with the options.
